Library Course Readings Management System (Ares)

The Course Readings Management System (Ares) is a tool that Library staff use to make course reading materials (articles, e-books, web resources, streaming videos, print books, etc.) available to students through the University’s Course Management System (Brightspace).

Using a course reading management system supports:

  • quick, reliable access to high-demand course readings in a centralized, easy to find location.
  • respecting Canadian copyright law and existing Brock University licensing agreements and policies.
  • an organized structure to sorting and searching for readings by using custom tags for each week, module, unit, etc.
  • tracking student usage of required readings as well as the status of your submitted requests.

The Course Readings Management System (Ares) can be found under the ‘Content’ menu in Brightspace. The screenshot below is an example of how it would appear in your course site.
