Bookable Study Spaces

The James A. Gibson Library offers bookable hybrid learning spaces (individual study rooms) and group study rooms. All rooms are for student use only.

Hybrid Learning Spaces / Single Occupancy Rooms

Nineteen (19) individual fully-enclosed study rooms are available to book on floors 8-10 of the Library.

These rooms are intended for silent study and hybrid learning (participating in an online class).

Please note: floors 8-10 are quiet and silent study zones. We strongly encourage any class participation be at an acceptable volume level and ask that you wear a headset or use headphones.

  • Rooms may be booked for 3 hours at a time, up to 2 times per week and 14 days in advance.
  • Rooms are for individual use only and academic use takes priority.
  • Rooms not occupied within 15 minutes of booking time are available for re-booking.
  • The entrance width of the doorway is 75cm (29.5″) making it unsuitable for some wheelchairs, scooters and mobility devices. Please contact staff at the Ask Us desk for alternatives.
  • Belongings cannot be left unattended or left to reserve a room.
  • To ensure maximum ventilation, we recommend leaving the door slightly ajar.

Group Study Rooms

Twelve (12) group study rooms with a capacity of 2 – 6 people are available to book on floors 2 and 5 of the Library.

Two (2) group study rooms with a maximum capacity of 10 people are available to book on floors 2 and 5 of the Library.

  • Rooms may be booked for 2 hours at a time and up to 14 days in advance.
  • Rooms are for group use only and academic use takes priority.
  • Rooms not occupied within 15 minutes of booking time are available for re-booking.
  • Belongings cannot be left unattended or left to reserve a room.
