Since 2012 the James A. Gibson Library has provided a journal hosting service to support the publication of open access, peer reviewed scholarly journals. “Scholarly Journals at Brock” is offered in collaboration with Scholars Portal staff and the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL), a major development partner in the Public Knowledge Project (PKP).

The following services are provided at no cost to journal editors:
- Getting your journal off the ground
- Setting up a dedicated instance of OJS for your journal that supports double-blind peer review
- Training and workshops for journal editors, potential authors, and reviewers
- Applying for an ISSN
- Assigning DOIs to your published material
- Disseminating your articles to a wider audience by submitting journal content to popular database products including: Google Scholar, Directory of Open Access Journals, and Scholars Portal Journals
- Transferring a current published journal from another hosting solution
- Providing seamless back ups and long-term preservation of published material in a trusted digital repository through Scholars Portal Journal Services.
