Learning Commons Spaces

Visitors to the Matheson Learning Commons will find an array of spaces that facilitate a variety of study environments for students as well as instructional spaces for our partners.

Collaborative Open Spaces

Most of the Learning Commons space is open and invites collaborative learning and exchange. Students will find a variety of study set ups such as booths, couches, tables and counters.

The north side of the Matheson Learning Commons features lounge seating, individual computer stations and extensive single seating options with electrical outlets.

Group Study Rooms

Ten group study rooms have capacity for 2-6 people. A large room for up to 12 people is also available.

There are 11 group study rooms in the Learning Commons that can be reserved by student groups up to 2 weeks in advance.

Quiet Study Spaces

The north side of the Learning Commons features quiet single study spots.

Sections of the Learning Commons are also zoned for quiet study.  Students will find individual study carrels throughout the space.

Instructional Spaces

Classrooms are available for use by Learning Commons Partners for workshops and educational opportunities for the campus community, subject to the policies outlined. When not being used for workshops and instruction, our classrooms are open daily for student study.

Classroom A is a 32 seat computer lab in the Learning Commons

Classroom A: 32 PC computers; zoned for quiet study.

Classroom B offers configurable desk and seating for 20 people.

Classroom B: flexible learning space; zoned for silent study.

The upper floors of the library (floors 5-10) offer quiet, silent, and group study spaces.

Bookable spaces are also available on the upper floors and include:

  • 19 individual rooms on floors 8-10
