Borrow From Other Libraries

When Brock Library does not own a copy of a book or have access to the journal you need, faculty, staff, and students may request the item from another library. As part of the Omni network, partnerships with Canadian consortia, the International Rapid ILL  group, and other networks, we are able to provide you with fast and free interlibrary loan services.

  • Digital requests usually arrive in 1-3 days
  • Physical items typically arrive in 3-5 days

Step 1: Search Omni

  • Sign in to Omni and search for the item you need in the “Brock Library + Omni Libraries” search scope

Step 2: Request the Item

  • After locating your item, click on “Get it from another library” and complete the form
  • On this form, you can choose a “Preferred Pickup University”. Brock University is the default, or you can choose a pickup (and return) location at your closest Omni school.
  • After selecting Brock University, choose your Preferred Local Pickup”: James A. Gibson Library, or Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts

Step 3: Wait for your Pickup Notice

  • The lending library will email you when the item is ready for pickup
  • Just like Brock items, the loan period on items from other Omni schools is 120 days
  • To renew, follow these procedures
  • Return your item to Brock or any Omni partner

Alternative for Items Not Found in Omni

When desired items are not found in Omni, complete a blank request form for your item and we’ll take care of the rest.

  • Journal articles are delivered electronically as PDF attachments in 1-3 days
  • All electronic articles, scans, and copies provided through this service are subject to copyright / fair dealing,  and vendor licensing limitations
  • Occasionally, fees are charged by lending libraries. The Library will subsidize up to $25 for Brock faculty, graduate students, and staff

Services for Evidence Synthesis Researchers

Are you collaborating on a Systematic Review, Scoping Review or other Evidence Synthesis Research Project?

If so, you may need to request a large volume of articles which are not available directly from the Brock Library. These may be requested through our interlibrary loan (ILL) service. Our team at the Library are happy to support you in this phase of the project.
