The Brock University Alumni Association (BUAA) takes great pride in recognizing the achievements of our fellow alumni. By highlighting and celebrating our collective successes, all Brock degrees increase in value.
The recognition of accomplished alumni promotes the excellence of the University, its graduates and the Alumni Association. Presented annually by the Brock University Alumni Association (BUAA), the following awards are reviewed by the Recognition of Excellence Committee and chosen based on their individual criteria.

Nomination Deadline: January 31, 2023
Nominations must be completed online via the official nomination form. Nominators are required to provide details outlining the nominee’s achievements as they pertain to the award. Nominations received after the deadline may be considered for the following year.
The Distinguished Alumni Award identifies and honours Brock University graduates who have earned prominence as a result of their exceptional professional achievements and/or service to society.
This award was implemented in 2002 and is presented annually. Nominators will be asked to provide information regarding achievements and/or awards relating to the nominee’s commitment to their profession, community and to Brock University.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Graduate of Brock University
- Graduates of diploma and certificate programs are eligible
- The successful candidate must be available for the presentation of the award
This award was implemented to celebrate individual faculty alumni who have earned prominence as a result of their exceptional professional achievements and/or service to society.

- Graduate of Brock University
- Graduates of diploma and certificate programs are eligible
- The successful candidate must be available for the presentation of the award
Established in 2015, this award recognizes a Brock University graduate under 35 years of age in the first decade of their career who has made a significant impact in their chosen field.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Graduate of Brock University under 35 years of age
- Graduates of diploma and certificate programs are eligible
- The successful candidate must be available for the presentation of the award
The Brock University Alumni Association (BUAA) Award for Community Engagement recognizes a Brock graduate who has made outstanding contributions to their community, and in doing so, has enriched the lives of others. This award honours one extraordinary graduate who has set a high standard for community service and who has made a significant contribution as a volunteer to their community.
The recipient will be an individual who has done exceptional work in their community (locally, nationally or globally). The BUAA will take into account the nominee’s volunteer contributions to civic and charitable causes.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Graduate of Brock University
- Graduates of diploma and certificate programs are eligible
The David Betzner Award recognizes alumni who have demonstrated loyalty and commitment to their alma mater by supporting Brock University and/or the Alumni Association through continuous dedicated volunteer service.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Graduate of Brock University
- Graduates of diploma and certificate programs are eligible
- The successful candidate must be available for the presentation of the award
Brock University will recognize one Brock graduate annually who has contributed to the growth and success of Co-op by being instrumental in developing quality opportunities for Brock Co-op students.
This annual award honours one extraordinary graduate who has contributed to the success of Brock Co-op by being a champion of co-op within their organization, serving as a mentor to co-op students and going above and beyond to help their alma matter promote Brock Co-op. The award is presented jointly by Brock Co-op and Brock Alumni and will be presented during the National Co-op Week annual celebration.
The recipient will be an individual who has consistently promoted and been an advocate for Brock students in co-op and contributed to the personal and professional development of Brock’s students while on a work term.
Nominations must be completed online via the official nomination form. Nominators are required to provide details outlining the nominee’s extraordinary achievements as they pertain to the award. The nomination should also detail how the individual has contributed in an outstanding and meaningful way to the co-op culture at their place of employment. Nominations received after the deadline may be considered for the following year.
