Crowdmark is a tool that has been integrated into Sakai to add a digital workflow to hand-written assignments.
Instructors can create Crowdmark courses based on their active Sakai courses, then create assignments that require scientific, mathematical or musical notation in the response, or provide an artifact to be labelled. Students can respond with a picture or scan of their response. Instructors and the rest of their marking team can grade and provide feedback on submitted work all within the Crowdmark web experience.
All Brock University faculty, sessional instructors and teaching staff are invited to join the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation for a virtual workshop on Crowdmark on Wednesday October 21, 9:00 am – 10:00 am.

Considering your options for online exams this year?
The Centre for Pedagogical Innovation is hosting one-hour sessions to help instructors consider their options for delivering their online exams. Focus will be on tools like Sakai’s Tests and Quizzes, Crowdmark and options for take home exams. Register for a Getting Ready for Online Exams session.

This workshop is synchronous and requires registration to receive the Microsoft Teams invitation to participate in the online workshop.

Workshops are applicable to all disciplines.
We will explore different online tools to facilitate student learning online in smaller groups. Many of our students have a vaandriety of online learning experiences; during this session, you will have the opportunity to experience learning online as a student and then practice online facilitation using active learning principles.

Participation in this session will earn 1 TA credit towards the completion of the Certificate in Online Teaching & Learning in Higher Education.

TA DAYS offers a variety of professional development workshops and an opportunity to earn TA credits towards a TA certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Brock University’s update to Sakai 19.4 mainly focuses on streamlining performance issues and workflows in tools such as Assignments, Gradebook, Lessons, Tests and Quizzes with the addition of a new tool: Rubrics.
Instructors, faculty and TAs will find the following new features and updates in the Sakai 19.4 upgrade planned for July 1st, 2020 from 8:00 AM to Noon.

Enabling the “Video” tool (Site Info > External Tools > Videos) now presents options for accessing the Library and “Creating a Video” immediately upon selection from the left side navigation space.
CPI is offering specialized online sessions for groups of instructors geared towards disciplinary focus or specific challenges in the online environment.

New Update for Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams sites can now be requested and populated by Instructors. Using the instructions outlined in Create a Team you can also automatically update your course roster of students.
Microsoft Teams is for video conferencing and be can used for 1 on 1 meetings, office hours, or online small class discussions. CPI workshops and consultations use MS Teams.
