Generative AI: Re-thinking Assessments

Tuesday, February 24, 11am-11:50am on Teams

As generative AI (GenAI) tools become increasingly accessible to students, traditional assessment practices face new challenges. This workshop aims to explore the current landscape of GenAI in education and explore strategies for designing assessments that emphasize critical thinking, creativity, and authentic engagement which are tasks that are less easily outsourced to AI. Participants will be able to discuss practical alternatives, share experiences, and consider how to integrate innovative assessment approaches that maintain academic integrity but can also integrate or embrace the opportunities that GenAI presents.

Reflecting on Your Course & Curriculum Alignment

Thursday, March 19, 11am-11:50am on Teams

This workshop invites you to reflect on your course design with special consideration for the alignment between learning outcomes, assessment plans, and program-level objectives. We will explore the strengths of course design components as they relate to program requirements and students’ experiences – setting the stage for 2026/27 course planning as well as curriculum documentation.

This session is for all faculty and instructors, and may be especially helpful for those preparing for their cyclical program review.

Generative AI Workshop

This workshop explores the fundamentals of Generative AI (Gen AI), its integration in teaching and the ethical considerations and challenges it presents. Here is a brief overview of the topics covered in this workshop:

  1. Introduction to Generative AI
  2. Generative AI in Teaching and Learning
  3. Integrating AI into Teaching Practices
  4. Assessment, Accessibility, and AI

Open Educational Resources (OER)

Open Educational Resources (OER) can enhance students’ learning experience and engagement when incorporated into teaching. This workshop provides a baseline understanding of what OER are, how to integrate them into your current or future teaching, and the supports available for OER adoption, adaptation, and creation.

This workshop expands foundational accessibility in teaching spaces to explore theories, concepts, and practices that are contextually relevant to your courses when thinking about making your course design more holistically inclusive.
