  • August 24: Master of Science thesis defence

    Saif Al-Silwadi, a candidate in the Department of Earth Sciences, will present his Master of Science thesis defence by video conference on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. in Welch Hall 147.

    His thesis is titled Dinoflagellate cyst stratigraphy and paleoecology of the Upper Miocene and Pliocene, Rees Borehole, Northern Belgium.

  • August 23: Master of Science thesis defence

    The Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) is a 30+ year old, peer-based, experiential instructional development program and is one of the most successful approaches to pedagogy in post secondary institutions. Held over 3 days, ISW is designed to enhance teaching effectiveness through teaching practice and feedback in small groups with peers and colleagues.

    Participants are required to attend all 3 days and will receive a certificate upon completion.

  • Record turnout as national lecture series turns 10

    The Triggs International Premium Vinifera Lecture Series marked its 10th event of sharing industry insight by bringing together a record crowd to learn between the grape vines. Grape growers and wine industry professionals rang in the 10th instalment of the series in the heart of Ontario wine country on Aug. 3 and 4, and in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley on Aug. 8 and 9. More than 200 people attended over the four days, making this one of the most successful years for the series since it began in 2004.

    Organized by Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI), this year’s instalment featured Stefano Poni, Professor of Viticulture and Chair of the Instituto of Frutti-Viticoltura of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Piacenza, Italy.   • September 17: Terry Fox Run & Lab Tours

    The St. Catharines Terry Fox Run and a post-run party will be held on the Brock campus starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 17, which is also the final day of the University’s Homecoming Weekend. The Fox event will also include remarks by Brock researchers, and tours of Brock labs where important cancer research is taking place.

    The five-kilometre route can be walked, run or wheeled. Parking will be free for the event, and there’s no entrance fee and no fundraising minimum.

    Registration is available on the Terry Fox Foundation website, where you can join as an individual or join the Brock University team.
