New for 2026: We now offer our BSc in Physics with Concentrations in several areas to enhance your degree.

Applied Physics: Focus on using physical principles to develop new technologies and solve practical problems. It bridges theoretical concepts with real-world applications in areas like engineering, electronics, and materials science.

Quantum Materials: Materials whose properties are strongly governed by principles of quantum mechanics, making them important for advanced technologies such as quantum computing and next-generation electronics.

Theoretical Physics: The branch of physics that uses mathematical models and abstractions to explain and predict natural phenomena. It focuses on developing fundamental laws and theories, such as relativity and quantum mechanics.

Astrophysics: The area of physics that studies the physical properties and behavior of celestial objects and the universe as a whole. It applies the laws of physics to phenomena such as stars, galaxies, black holes, and cosmic radiation.

Our department is dedicated to fostering a culture of curiosity, innovation, and excellence, for first-year students just beginning their journey in the world of physics and experienced researchers exploring the frontiers of knowledge.

We’re committed to providing a rich educational experience, with research, collaborative projects, and mentorship.

The Physics department offers several degrees in Physics: BSc Honours, BSc Co-op, Concurrent BSc/BEd, MSc and PhD. The department also participates in Combined Majors with Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Chemistry.

The Department is home to the BSc in Biophysics program and the Master of Science in Materials Physics (MSMP) International Student Program.
