Questions & Answers (Q&A)

Important dates are found here brocku.ca/important-dates/. These include the beginning and end dates of terms, fall and winter reading weeks, and statutory holidays.

No. The CCES program is a fully in-person program. While an instructor may decide to occassionally have an online experience, you can expect most of your classes to be in-person. Internships could be partially on-line or in-person.

Internships will be part of your EDUC 3P96 course in the Winter 2024, and your instructor will provide details at that time. Generally, internships can be in a variety of community-based settings and could be in-person or partically online, and are scheduled on the days or times you are not in class. Internships are unpaid, but provide a valuable work/learning experience.

International students, as instructed in your Letter of Admission, should have applied for the Work Permit (commonly called the co-op work permit) as part of the study permit application. If this was not done, contact immigration advisors at isa@brocku.ca for assistance.

As it is highly likely that your internship could include interaction with children or the elderly, it is recommended that you get a police check completed. Check our Faculty of Education International Student Guide – Faculty of Education (brocku.ca) for more information. A police check cannot be obtained until you are physically in Canada.

There are two types of fees: Tuition and Ancillary Fees.

CCES International Student tuition: $18,696.00

  • $9,348 due on the first day of class September 6, 2023, and  then again January 8, 2024. There are no other types of payment plans.

Most additional fees are paid and due on the first day of class, September 6, 2023. All of these fees are mandatory:

  • Ancillary Fees: $579.90
  • Ontario Government International Recovery Fee: $750.00
  • UHIP: $756.00
  • Health Insurance: $178.41
  • Dental Insurance: $132.97
  • Bus Pass: $300.24
  • Health Services: $29.55

Additionally:

  • Books: $1,700.00 (This is what your Letter of Admission estimates, but it will not be this high for the CCES or LCBE programs).
  • Board and Lodging: $12,000.00 – $15,000.00 (Approximate)

Tuition and fees will post to your student financial history once you have registered for classes. If you have a deposit, it will show as a credit on your account and be deducted from the fees owing.

The information provided here is to be helpful, but cannot be guaranteed as accurate. For official information on fees please visit:

Because your internship may be with a “vulnerable population” (children or the elderly), we request that you obtain a police check. As these might take weeks to process, do so right away, even though your internship does not start until the Winter 2024 term. The police check could also be requested by an employer. See information on obtaining a police check in the Faculty of Education International Student Guide – Faculty of Education (brocku.ca)

All Brock students have free access to a number of Microsoft products. Start here to learn more and download the software: Office 365 – Information Technology Services (brocku.ca)

Your myBrock portal will ask for a copy of your study permit. This is the document that you will receive at the airport from the immigration officer, so you will need to wait until you are in Canada to do this. You do not need to upload a copy of your Work Permit (which is a separate document).

When you applied for your study permit you should have also applied for the “co-op work permit.” If you did not do this, you can still do so after arrival in Canada. More information is on this immigration website page: Work as a co-op student or intern – Canada.ca. Email Brock advisors at isa@brocku.ca if you have questions.
