One of the most gratifying components of the teacher education program is the practicum experience. It allows teacher candidates to link theory to practice, learn first-hand from experienced teachers in the field, and work directly with students in the classroom. While in the teacher education program, teacher candidates complete two or three practice teaching placements depending on the program they are in.
The Practicum Office makes and supports practicum placements for teacher candidates who are in their fifth year of the Concurrent teacher education program, teacher candidates in the Consecutive teacher education program, and the Technological education program. They also offer support and assistance to other programs within the faculty who offer field experiences as part of their programs.
If you have any questions about practicum placements in the Faculty of Education, please contact foepracticum@brocku.ca.

Professional learning opportunities augment your coursework and field experiences at Brock. Professional learning (PL) enables you to personalize your degree by adding depth and breadth to your understanding of issues in teaching, learning and education, and differentiates your resume from others in your field.
Some programs have required PL sessions which you must attend, while other programs may have optional opportunities.
A unique schedule for PL for each undergraduate program is provided to students early in the academic year as well as details about registration. If you have questions about professional learning contact foepl@brocku.ca.
