Instructional Resource Centres (IRC)

The Instructional Resource Centres are key to Brock University’s Faculty of Education located at both the St. Catharines and Hamilton Campuses. Each IRC provides specialized instructional resources and media services required to support the students, instructors, faculty and staff across the Faculty of Education Programs.

Borrowing policies

General information about items that you can borrow from the IRC. For a full description of our Borrowing Policies.

  • Brock University Patrons Loan Period
  • Undergraduate Students – 4 weeks
  • Teacher Education Students – 2 weeks (extended loan during Teaching Blocks)
  • Faculty/Staff/Graduate Students – Term Loan 120 days+ no renewal limit
  • Community Patrons Loan Period
    • Extramural Borrower – 2 weeks
    • Research Extra Mural Borrower – Term Loan
    • Inter-University Borrower – 2 weeks
    • Direct Borrower – 2 weeks
  • Items which are currently checked out and requested by another borrower can be recalled after a 2 week loan. Recalled items are to be returned within 3 days. Items circulated to Teacher Candidates during a teaching block cannot be recalled.
  • Renew material online using My Library Account or in person at the IRC Circulation Desk. IRC resources may not be renewed by telephone. Borrowers whose privileges have been suspended may not renew resources. Undergraduate students are permitted up to 4 consecutive renewals per item, if there are no holds on the item.   • Brock University Patrons only
  • 3 hour, 1 day or 2 day loans
  • No holds or recalls
  • Renewals on 1 and 2 day reserve items only if another copy is available.
  • Issued after an item is 32 days overdue
  • Patron is billed actual current cost of item (US funds if applicable), plus a $15.00 non-refundable processing fee, per item.
  • Borrowing privileges are suspended when a patron owes the University Library and/or the IRC $10.00 or more in fines, bills for replacement etc. or when an IRC item is more than 7 days overdue.
  • Students owing the University fees or fines will not receive a diploma, certificate, transcript or a statement of final grades until the fines have been paid.
