Dr. Sarah Bohunicky joined Brock University as a teaching-intensive Assistant Professor in the Master of Athletic Therapy program in 2026. She graduated with her Bachelor of Kinesiology with Specialization in Athletic Therapy from the University of Manitoba and has been in practice as a Certified Athletic Therapist since 2016.
Sarah’s research aims to advance evidence-based practice for musculoskeletal rehabilitation and injury prevention. Her systematic evaluation of common therapeutic and exercise interventions examines the effects on clinical, neuromuscular, and biomechanical outcomes, such as muscle excitation, fatigue, stiffness, kinematics, and force production.
Sarah’s research interests also include investigating pedagogical strategies for effective psychomotor skill acquisition and retention. This research informs her teaching approaches in athletic therapy education to help train confident and competent healthcare providers while improving the overall learning experience for students.
