Sheila Bennett has devoted her career to advocating for the inclusion of students with special needs into regular classrooms.
Her years of experience brought her to Ottawa in November, when she was invited to share her message with the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration (CIMM).

Faculty of education staff and faculty collected donations for Gillian’s Place this festive season. Gillian’s Place is a comprehensive emergency shelter for women and children facing domestic abuse. Since 1977, it has offered more than 17,000 women and their children emergency shelter and support services.

Brock staff, professors and students celebrated Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) from Dec 4. to 10, helping to promote computer science skills in their communities.
Brock volunteers gathered at a Thorold elementary school on Dec. 2 to create a little holiday magic for children in the local community.
Organized by the Concurrent Education Student Association (CESA), the annual Holiday Extravaganza partnered each Brock volunteer with one of the approximately 150 students at Prince of Wales S Public School for a day of festive crafts and activities.

It took nine years for Snezana Ratkovic to feel fully at home in Canada. Having settled here as a refugee from the former Yugoslavia, she understands the challenge of creating a new life in an unfamiliar country.
Ratkovic, now a research officer and instructor in the Faculty of Education, heard similar stories from other refugee women while doing her PhD research.

Michael O’Sullivan (Associate Professor and Associate Dean, Graduate Student Services, Research, and International) interviews award-winning Master of Education (MEd) students about their experiences in the Faculty of Education.
Education Professor Louis Volante has been named President-Elect for the Canadian Educational Researchers’ Association (CERA).
As one of the first associations to form the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE), CERA has a longstanding tradition of providing scholarly leadership to the Canadian educational research community. CERA members conduct research into areas of educational assessment, program evaluation, and research methodology.
Professor Volante commences his term this June during the CSSE annual conference which is being held at Ryerson University as part of the Congress for Humanities and Social Sciences.
