Faculty of Education supports Gillian’s Place this festive season

Faculty of education staff and faculty collected donations for Gillian’s Place this festive season. Gillian’s Place is a comprehensive emergency shelter for women and children facing domestic abuse. Since 1977, it has offered more than 17,000 women and their children emergency shelter and support services.

Through the donations collected, staff and faculty will subsidize four monthly school lunch packages for children in the shelter attending school, provide 3 days of Crisis Phone Line service, and provide a holiday dinner for a family of three people.

Ethna Bernat (on right), Associate Administrative Director Academic Advising, visited Gillian’s Place on Dec. 19 to deliver the donations to Nicole Regehr (on left), Community Development Manager at Gillian’s Place.
