Brock Education on the global stage

Critical reflection, dialogue and innovation in the field of education and teacher education was at the heart of the Global Network of Deans of Education (GNDE) Symposium held in Edinburgh, Scotland from September 2 to 4.

Brock’s Dean of Education Mary-Louise Vanderlee was in attendance representing Brock engaging with deans and delegates from across the globe, addressing key issues facing education and forging international partnerships to advance research and practice in the field.

The symposium focussed on ‘Teacher education and education futures in a complex world’ and explored ways in which post-secondary institutions can be prepared to respond to societal changes and challenges.

The symposium helped advance research and practice using the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal #4 (quality education) as a unifying focus and framework. A key outcome was imagining new possibilities for the field of education towards a sustainable future.
