Loan amounts are calculated using the following formulas:
Cost of attendance (COA) includes tuition and fees, books, supplies, transportation, personal expenses, and room and board while you are in school.
Expected family contribution (EFC) is based on the student’s (and, if applicable, the student’s family’s) income and assets, as was reported on the FAFSA form. The EFC is reported on your Student Aid Report (SAR) and is based on an eight-month period of enrollment. For Graduate/Professional students attending for three semesters, your EFC will be adjusted accordingly.
Estimated financial assistance (EFA) usually takes the form of scholarships, grants, loans, tuition assistance or work that is awarded on the basis of post-secondary enrollment.
Direct Subsidized Loan (needs-based)
Direct Unsubsidized Loan (not needs-based)
Direct PLUS Loan (not needs-based)
Disbursement of Funds
Direct Loan funds are disbursed in two or three equal installments at the beginning of each term (Fall, Winter, Spring/Summer). Funds will first be applied to your student account. If a credit balance remains on your student account after tuition and fees are paid, you may submit a refund request.
Brock University must obtain consent from the Parent PLUS Loan borrower to release Parent PLUS loan funds to the student. If your parent(s) applied for a Parent PLUS loan on your behalf, please ensure that the Parent PLUS disclosure form is completed.
