Overdue accounts

Interest is charged at a rate of 1.5% per month (compounded to 19.56% annually) on any unpaid balance each month. This rate is subject to change. Interest will not be waived for late payments.

All students are bound by the Statement of Student Financial Responsibility, which must be electronically signed prior to registration in each academic year.  This statement is also located on your student financial history for review at any time.

  • By registering for classes at Brock University, I agree to pay all assessed tuition and fees as a result of this registration.
  • I am responsible to properly cancel, adjust or drop my registration by the end of the online drop and add periods, in accordance with the course calendar.
  • I understand that decisions with respect to any request for course withdrawals, tuition refunds, tuition adjustments, or other fees shall be made at Brock University’s sole discretion and in accordance with the applicable Brock University policies and procedures. Furthermore, I agree to pay any additional charges I may incur, including, but not limited to: charges for residence, meal plans, class materials, other departmental charges, service charges and interest on overdue accounts.
  • I understand that it is my responsibility to verify my student financial account on a regular basis.  I understand that, regardless of my eligibility for financial aid, I am personally responsible for the full amount assessed to me as a result of my registration and will be held accountable to Brock University financial policies and procedures.  I understand that having an overdue balance on my student financial account may have both academic and non-academic consequences, including, without limitation, the withholding of my degree and/or transcripts of grades.

Overdue outstanding accounts with Brock University are marked with a balance code. This will prevent the student from receiving a degree or statement of final grades, or having any such statement furnished to parties outside the university until the debt has been cleared to the university’s satisfaction. Inservice and Teacher Education students will not have credentials recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers if a balance remains outstanding. Registration for future courses is also prohibited.

Brock University reserves the right to deregister students from courses for non-payment; however, non-payment does not constitute proper withdrawal from courses. Please consult the complete withdrawal checklist for more information.

Seriously delinquent accounts will be sent to pre-collections, and a $20 charge will be assessed. The university works with a collection agency to collect on delinquent accounts.

If you anticipate having a potential difficulty regarding your payment, please contact the Student Accounts and Financial Aid office, as early as possible. Graduate students should contact the Faculty of Graduate Studies to find out if you may qualify for assistance.

OSAP Students

Students with a confirmed OSAP assessment before July 31 of $12,000.00 or more may pay a reduced residence 1st instalment amount. Please see the Residence Fees page for details. That amount is subject to change, based on your registration and or reassessments made by OSAP.

**NEW 2018:  OSAP is now paid directly to the University for the anticipated balance due in the current OSAP disbursement period.  Any OSAP entitlement over and above the anticipated amount owed to the University will be paid directly to the student by the National Student Loans Service Center.   It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their OSAP application is complete and a confirmed assessment has been obtained in order for payment to reach the University in a timely manner and meet due dates,  Any remaining balance not covered by OSAP must be paid by the student in accordance with the University payment due dates. Interest charges will accrue on outstanding balances as noted above.
