Cheryl Brandon’s Distinguished Graduate event registration

We are honoured to present Cheryl Brandon (BBA ’04) with the 2021 Goodman School of Business Distinguished Graduate Award.

Cheryl is a senior executive with over 15 years of experience in all aspects of asset management, including capital allocation, transaction execution, institutional fundraising, and strategy development. Currently, Cheryl is a Partner – Investment Management with Waterton Global Resource Management. In her role, Cheryl is responsible for deal origination, deal structuring and execution, portfolio monitoring, and exiting investments in the metals and mining business. She oversees all investment initiatives at Waterton Global and serves on the Investment Committee and the Valuation Committee for the Funds. She has been involved in structuring and executing more than 50 transactions involving junior, mid-tier, and senior mining companies, as well as successfully co-leading multiple fundraising campaigns totaling US$1.75B targeting sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, pension funds, and family offices across Asia, North America, and Europe. 

Prior to joining Waterton in 2009, she co-managed a resource strategy at a Canadian hedge fund focused on investing in the resource sector. In 2007, she became a Chartered Financial Analyst Charter Holder and member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts. In addition, Cheryl serves on the board of the CVCA, the principal private capital association for Canada, and she is on the board of the Women in Private Equity Association. Cheryl is also the Founder and Director of The Giving 2 Girls Initiative, which supports charities that are focused on improving the lives of girls in developing countries and building a sustainable environment for girls to learn, grow, and prosper.
