The SJRI contributes to knowledge mobilization in a number of ways. For example, we support faculty-led events that help to build up a transdisciplinary, social justice culture at Brock and in Niagara. The following events are some events that have become integral to SJRI:
Arts, Archives and Affinities: This yearly event brings together faculty and community speakers and artists to highlight and nurture the contributions of Humanities to social justice research and knowledge mobilization.
Symposia: In the past, SJRI has held a yearly competition among affiliates to access funding for a symposium intended to attract local, national, and international researchers focused on a specific social justice issue. These symposia each have fostered transdisciplinary, social justice oriented research, led to a special issue of Studies in Social Justice, and have contributed to national and international awareness of the SJRI.
The Niagara Social Justice Forum: The Niagara Social Justice Forum has been held at Brock University since 2007 and has attracted over 250 participants from Brock and from the Niagara Region more broadly.
