SJRI Working Groups

Past working groups led by SJRI Affiliates have explored topics such as: how intersectional approaches to human rights can transform university classrooms; how academics can decolonize their research and teaching; and student experiences of racial profiling and anti-blackness among police in St. Catharines.

Some important outcomes of these working groups include contributions to the development of the President’s Advisory Committee for Human Rights, Equity and Decolonization (PACHRED), organization of a symposium, “Imagining new approaches to sexuality and consent education” (see poster), and formation of a Decolonize and Deconstruct (D&D): a fully student-led Black, Indigenous, People of Colour consent education coalition.
