Tutoring

Brock University Tutoring employs approximately 25-30 Brock students per year and offers support to clients from Grade 9 through Post-Secondary education. Though our tutors come from many different disciplines, they all share a love of learning and a passion for their subjects. Our tutors are trained to help clients build their skills, develop a growth mindset, and attain a sense of agency and empowerment in their learning.

All our tutors maintain an outstanding GPA in their major areas of study and have proven proficient in the courses they are assigned to tutor. Our tutors have experience in a variety of different teaching and learning environments; some as volunteer tutors or coaches and others as mentors or in community organizations. All of our tutors who work with community clients have up to date vulnerable sector clearances. Some of our tutors are graduate students or teacher education candidates, and some love it so much they stay with us even after they graduate!

We are recruiting tutors all the time and are always looking for ways to grow our program and better meet your needs!

If you don’t see the course or subject you need support with listed on either of our booking sites, please complete the Tutoring Course Inquiry Form and a Learning Skills Specialist will be in touch within 1 business day.

You and your tutor will spend a few minutes getting to know each other and talking about your goals and specific concepts/content you’d like to work on. You’ll spend some time walking through previous work you’ve done (assignments, tests etc.) so that your tutor can get a better idea of how to support you, and then you’ll likely end the session by creating a game plan for future sessions.

Great! We have lots of clients who come see us for this exact purpose. To make the best use of your time, we recommend that you use the Notes section on our booking page to let your tutor know that you’re studying for an exam and what, specifically, you need help with. That way you can get right to it!

No problem! We get it, life happens! Just make sure to give us more than 24 hours’ notice of your session so we can notify your tutor.

See the Cancellation policy under Policies and Procedures for more details. You can use the link at the bottom of your confirmation email, or the booking site, to reschedule your appointment at a time that is more convenient for you. You can call us at 905-688-5550 ext. 5774 or email us at tutoring@brocku.ca.

We love getting feedback from clients and encourage you to get in touch with us if there’s anything on your mind regarding your experience with our service. You can come and speak with us in person or by phone (905-688-5550 ext. 5774) between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday, or email us at tutoring@brocku.ca
