    Wednesday, May 2 : Experts Tasting
    The Experts Tasting is an annual by-invitation-only event designed for the trade – invited guests include media, product consultants, sommeliers and wine educators who promote VQA wines through education and/or promotion. The very popular educational tasting has been running for more than twenty years. Typically varietal theme based having tackled Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Sparkling among others but the tasting has also covered Sub-Appellations, the Art of the Blend, Rising Whites and ‘New to Ontario’ (blends & techniques).     Wednesday May 30: Oenology workshop

    Save the date for a workshop with winemaker Marco Bertaccini from AEB Biochemical. The session sponsored by Cellar-Tek will run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Brock University. The topic and further details on registration will be coming soon.

    April 5 to May 31,  6 p.m.: OEVI 0N06 – WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits (In-class)
    This course deals with all aspects of wine. Learn major grape varieties and wine styles from key wine producing countries of the world, the main spirit categories and understand factors that influence wine quality and price. Students will taste and compare styles as they are guided using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting.

    April 14 to May 18: Online – WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits
    For students living more than 30 miles from Brock University, or otherwise unable to attend scheduled in-class programs, CCOVI offers the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits online.
    WSET Level 2: Wines and Spirits provides fundamental product knowledge and lays the foundation for the Systematic Approach to Tasting. The Level 2 Award is ideal for those entering a profession in the wine and spirit industry, as well as for the enthusiast who wishes to broaden their knowledge in a structured way.

    WSET Level 2: Wines and Spirits provides fundamental product knowledge and lays the foundation for the Systematic Approach to Tasting. The Level 2 Award is ideal for those entering a profession in the wine and spirit industry, as well as for the enthusiast who wishes to broaden their knowledge in a structured way.

    Saturday, March 3 at 9:30 a.m. : OEVI 0N05 – WSET Level 1 Award in Wine
    For individuals new to wine, this qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings.

    March 17 to April 20: Online – WSET Level 2 in Spirits
    For students living more than 30 miles from Brock University, or otherwise unable to attend scheduled in-class programs, CCOVI offers the WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits online.
    This 5 week course includes 6 hours of study per week. However the course has no fixed study times – this course utilises on-line resources to allow students to study alongside their peers under the guidance of a WSET tutor. Each week includes a series of online activities, often based around group discussion, with an online tutor allocated to guide the students’ studies. A timed feedback test is provided at the end of each week for students to practice for the exam and assess their understanding of that week’s topics. Group tasting activities are also provided to familiarise students with the Systematic Approach to Tasting specific to spirits.

    March 23 – 25: Cuvée Grand Tasting and Cuvée en Route
    Join us as we celebrate our 30th annual Cuvée Grand Tasting on March 23 at the Scotiabank Convention Centre.
    Guests will have the opportunity to taste wines that were selected by each winemaker as their favourite. What wine will each winemaker choose?  Their selections will be revealed at the tasting.
    To complement the VQA wine selection, guests will also have the opportunity to sample signature dishes created at live cooking stations by local and guest chefs.
    The Après Cuvée Party will keep the celebration going with dancing to Cuvée’s featured band – The Associates.  Après Cuvée features sparkling wine, Icewine as well as local craft beer and cider stations.
    Grand Tasting 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    Après Cuvée party 9:30 p.m. to midnight

    Continue your wine-weekend with the Cuvée en Route passport program, that runs from March 23 – March 25.

    Welcome to the first fully integrated online course in Ontario wine. From wine enthusiasts to anyone working in a winery, restaurant or retail sales, the Certificate in Ontario Wine is the first online course of its kind that will remove geographical barriers for those looking for a formal introduction to Ontario wine.     January 5 – January 31: Snap a Selfie Contest

    January 12 – 28:
    Niagara Icewine Festival. Running three consecutive weekends in January (12 -14, 19 -23, 26 – 28).

    January 15 – February 10
    OEVI 0N02 – Wines of Ontario
    This is a special interest course focused on the wines of Ontario: how they are grown and made. Become familiar with VQA wines and the viticultural areas in which they are grown.

    January 15 – March 26: 2018 CCOVI Lecture Series
    The popular annual lecture series will return on January 15 with a special tribute to the late Dr. Karl J. Kaiser. David Sheppard, winemaker at Flat Rock Cellars, will present Kaiser’s popular talk, “Pinot Noir: The Savage Yet Seductive Grape” in honour of the industry mogul. The presentation will take place beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 15. The lecture series will run every Monday from then on until March 26.     January 16 – May 1: OEVI 0N07 – WSET Level 3 Award in Wine
    This course is intended to provide in-depth knowledge of a wide range of wines from around the world and is open to students who hold the WSET Level 2 Award or can demonstrate knowledge acquired at the Level 2 award level through completion of an entrance test and sufficient experience in the wine industry.
    This qualification is also suitable for the wine enthusiast wishing to build on knowledge gained at Level 2.
    This qualification will assist those who may be required to make professional evaluations of wines as to its quality and commercial value.  Level 3 will provide registrants with in depth product knowledge that, in turn, will strengthen and support your job skills in product selection for the retail and hospitality sectors.
    This qualification is also suitable for the wine enthusiast wishing to build on knowledge gained at Level 2.

    January 17 – April 4: OEVI 0N03 – Wine Regions of the World
    This is a special interest course designed to deepen and refine your wine tasting skills as you explore the major wine regions of the world. Discover wines from historic Old World regions as well as the emerging New World wine regions including South Africa and New Zealand.
