Conference and Travel Funds

Our graduate students have access to competitive funding to support travel and participation in academic conferences and professional events. There are currently two travel support funds. Click on each for full details, eligibility, and how to apply.

VPR Travel Award

Amount: up to $1,000

The VPR Travel Award, generously provided by the Office of the Vice President, Research (VPR), is open to full-time graduate students who have not received travel funds from Brock this academic year. This year, 10 travel awards will be given out to 10 students by the end of the fiscal year.

*APPLICATIONS DUE: MONDAY, JULY 6, 2026, AT 4 P.M. EST

$1,000 travel award amount

Must be:

  • A current, full-time Brock University graduate student who has not received other travel funds from Brock University this academic year (spring 2026 to winter 2027)
  • Attending/attended a conference between May 2026 and April 2027.

In addition to one or more of the following:

  • Evidence of a peer-reviewed conference paper or proceedings
  • Invitation to a conference or institution for an installation, performance, or presentation
  • Received a prize or award at the conference/symposium

Provost’s Enhancement Fund for Student Activities (PEFSA)

Amount: up to $500

PEFSA supports graduate student involvement in extracurricular, academic, or professional development activities not fully covered by faculty or departmental funding.

Applicants must:

  • First receive partial funding from their faculty, program, or another university source
  • Apply only once per academic/fiscal year (May to April)

Applicants will prepare:

  • A detailed budget
  • Any endorsements from faculty or supervisors
  • Funding is reimbursed after the event/activity
  • Original receipts must be submitted and verified
  • Funding is processed through Financial Services after the AVP office reviews all documents
