Our bursaries offer financial support to current, full-time students facing unexpected or urgent hardship. Eligible graduate students may apply at any time during the academic year (May to April).
*Students can request up to a maximum of $1,000.
Check eligibility before applying
- Current, full-time registered Brock University graduate student
- Demonstrate financial need
- Have completed at least one academic term of study
- Have made some form of payment towards their tuition
- Have encountered an unexpected financial emergency*
- Completed the Bursary Expense and Income form (Step 1 below), which demonstrates immediate financial need
- Have not received an emergency bursary in the current academic year
*A financial emergency is defined as a crisis that could not have been reasonably budgeted for during the student’s study period.
Below, please find a list of what is not considered an unexpected financial emergency:
- Not intended to replace or supplement family financial contributions.
- Not intended to replace or supplement OSAP funding.
- Not intended to replace or supplement employment income.
- Emergency assistance is not available for tuition or regular living expenses, as these are considered foreseeable expenses.
- Ongoing medical expenses are not eligible for emergency assistance.
- Ongoing financial shortfalls or recurring cash flow challenges are not eligible for emergency assistance.

Counselling
The Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC)
Brock University students have access to services provided by the Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC) as part of their ancillary fees paid annually. SWAC offers health, counselling, and accessibility services to all Brock students.
Student Health Services
The Student Health Services office is located in Harrison Hall. Through Student Health Services, Brock students have access to appointments with physicians, mental health walk-in sessions with a Mental Health Nurse, and an urgent care walk-in clinic.
Graduate Students have access to a variety of health services, including the GSA Health and Dental Plan and UHIP. For information about medication and services covered under the health insurance plans offered at Brock, please see the links below:
