Brock Horizon Graduate Scholarship

Brock University recognizes the value of having a diverse background of cultures and identities represented within its graduate student population. The Brock Horizon Graduate Student Scholarships will help ensure that Brock continues to attract stellar researchers and students from various fields while building a diverse and inclusive university community. Our goal is to support these emerging leaders in their pursuit of post-secondary education.

Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Deadline to Apply: Friday, November 13, 2020

  • Any research-based student who self-identifies as Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) and/or an under-represented individual. This is not limited to the Canadian federal designations, but also individuals identified by Brock’s Human Rights and Equity Office (https://brocku.ca/human-rights/), including Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit), individuals from low-income or low socio-economic status backgrounds, racialized, 2SLGBTQ+, first generation graduate students, and people living with disabilities.
  • This is a one-time award per graduate degree. This is a stackable award and will not affect any other funding/scholarships.
  • Complete the Horizon scholarship application form (below) and send via email to gradfunding@brocku.ca no later than November 13, 2020
  • Have one (1) Non Academic reference send a letter of support on your behalf via email to gradfunding@brocku.ca or mail to:

  • What is a non-academic reference?
    • A Non-academic reference refers to a referee that can speak to your whole person, rather than just your academic merits. A supervisor or faculty member can absolutely provide a reference for the Horizon scholarship. It is recommended that whoever you choose as your referee can speak to all of your achievements.
  • Results of the Horizon Scholarship competition are expected to be announced in December 2020.
