Typography

Read more about Brock’s official brand typefaces.

Official typeface: Circular

The official typeface, Circular, was selected to maintain consistency across all communications. This clean, legible and very distinctive typeface comes in multiple weights to complement the brand signature.

Typefaces other than Circular should never be used in external communications and collateral materials. (advertisements, brochures, displays, etc.)

Text can appear in red, black, grey or secondary brand colours on a white background. Text can also appear in white when used against a background of solid red, black, grey or secondary brand colours.

Adjustments for Circular

When typesetting Circular, we make a few tweaks to reflect Brock’s brand personality: we reduce the line-spacing (leading), and set the letter-spacing to -25 for a tighter, more connected look.

Note: when adjusting leading, be mindful of descenders and ascenders colliding.

Circular Regular and Black weights have been licensed to Brock University for use only on Brock materials and on the website. Contact us to inquire about the use of the font in your projects.

Electronic typeface: Helvetica

For all web or electronic uses when Circular is not available (such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), the typeface Helvetica should be used.

Like our official typeface, it’s clean, legible, distinctive and available in multiple weights to complement the brand signature.

Consistent typography is an important element in reinforcing the brand signature, and typefaces other than Arial should not be used for electronic applications.

If you don’t have Circular or Helvetica and can’t get them installed on your system, you can use Arial as a fallback.
