Secondary brand elements

Our new “breakthrough” element visually represents the brand pillars and positioning. The element can be used to enhance any marketing material, create a window into the Brock world, or provide texture to a presentation.

The element starts with the Brock red block and breaks it apart into various shapes. The gradient colours provide depth and dimensionality to the element when it’s used as a standalone graphic.

Four examples of different shapes that the break through element could be used.
Example of an advertisement using the break through element. Shows photo of students on campus with the words "Break through at Brock."
Example of a Brock billboard that says "break out of the classroom" with a photos of a student using a microphone.
Break through campaign print ad example that says "Break through at Brock" with stats about the university and a photo of a student graduating.

Using the breakthrough element with images

When used to house images or colours with copy on top, the element provides a proprietary Brock shape, which speaks to the topography of the land that surrounds us.

Break through at Brock

Our promise builds on the concept of overcoming barriers, challenging boundaries, igniting possibilities, making your mark — personally, professionally, and for society.

Avoid typical language used by so many post-secondary institutions and focus on fresh ways of expressing these ideas instead, especially in headlines and marketing copy. Here are some examples:

  • Break a sweat.
  • Break the ice.
  • Break out of the classroom.
  • Break out of your shell.
  • Break the code.
  • Break the mold.
  • Break new ground.
  • Break a leg.
  • Break form.
  • Break step.
  • Break stories.
  • Break records.
  • Break barriers.
  • Break the norm.
  • Break bread.
  • Break free.
