Ways to generate closed captions

There are a few ways to generate closed captions or a transcript for video. If you don’t have any video editing software but only have a video or recording, below are a few third-party tools & services that can be used to generate a captions file.

Closed captioning in Adobe Premiere:

To create an SRT file, click the ‘Text’ tab in Adobe Premiere, followed by Transcript, and Transcribe Sequence.

After the script file has been created, review for spelling and accuracy. To time the script with the video, click ‘CC’ to create captions with default settings.

Watch video one final time to ensure captions are properly matched in the video, then click ‘…’ in Text menu, export, export to SRT file.
