Are you a Brock PhD student hoping to make significant progress with your writing this summer? Consider applying to attend the Lake Shift, a 5-night Writing Retreat on Lake Opinicon (a 50-minute drive north of Kingston, ON)!

Queen’s University organizes the event exclusively for doctoral students from Ontario Universities. It includes transportation, shared accommodations, meals, and more. The event provides students with structured writing time, dissertation workshops, outdoor activities, and opportunities to network with other doctoral students in a scenic location.

The 2026 retreat is set for July 5 to 10. We are hoping to sponsor the participation of 1-2 Brock PhD students, with exact confirmation of the number of available spots to be announced soon.

All PhD students are welcome to apply; however, priority will be given to full-time students enrolled in the spring/summer academic term. Applications are now closed for 2026.
