Prepare for a career in health

Are you passionate about health?

Brock Health Sciences programs are some of the oldest and highly sought after programs in Canada.

Within our Department, we offer four different degree programs to allow you to specialize in the area of health that is most interesting to you.

Whether you want to pursue a medical career, deal with emerging issues in public health, want to understand how Canada’s health system works so that you can help make improvements or want to work with children, we have a variety of options to choose from.

Choosing the program that is right for you.

Do you want to work with children and youth?

The Child Health program from Brock University is for individuals who hope to have a career working with children and youth in health-related professions. Students will explore multiple perspectives including child development, and perspectives of physical, mental, social and emotional health and wellness. Students will gain practical skills through experiential learning in a health-related profession.

Do you want to maintain and improve the health of your community?

The Community Health program is ideal if you are interested in receiving a well-rounded understanding of health and wellness at both the individual and societal levels. Students will learn about models for health promotion and disease prevention, gain an understanding of the Canadian health system and determinants of human health, from social, biological and environmental perspectives.

Do you want to become a medical professional?

The Medical Sciences program is for those who want to continue studies in medical, dental, pharmacy, and other health professions. Students will focus on biomedical foundations of human health by taking courses in anatomy, physiology, chemistry, biology and learning about the social aspects of health. A number of courses have a lab component which provides students with experience in clinical and research settings.

Do you want to deal with emerging issues in public health either locally, nationally or internationally?

This program is for students who want to focus on individual, community, and population health and wellness with an emphasis on health promotion, health administration, policy, programming and evaluation. Students will learn about biological, social and environmental determinants of important health issues while exploring disease prevention and health promotion strategies.

Do you want a public health degree that includes a masters?

This Concurrent Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) & Master of Public Health (MPH) program has a limited enrollment of 10 students per year. Students are granted direct entry to both the 4-year BPH (co-op or none co-op) and 1-year MPH (delivered completely online).

Students will have the flexibility to complete two degrees within five years or choose to default on the MPH degree following the completion of the BPH degree to accommodate changes to their career and/or academic aspirations.
