My academic roots are in medicine with advanced studies in biostatistics and epidemiology. I teach six courses in biostatistics at the undergraduate and graduate level. Instruction emphasizes how “statistical thinking” applies to real world experience. My research interests focus on the epidemiology of chronic disease, with special attention to cardiovascular disease risk factors.

Biostatistics may captivate the intellect, but from faith comes meaning – “Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23).
