Lifespan Development Research Institute – Teacher Advisory Committee

The Lifespan Development Research Institute’s Teacher Advisory Committee, is made up of current full-time elementary or secondary school teachers, administrators or school board employees from who provide input on relevant research and knowledge mobilization work – this includes research focused on teachers, students, families, and the community. Teacher Advisory Committee members learn about exciting research happening at the Lifespan Institute and have a chance to lend their voice to research in the making!

What do Lifespan Institute Teacher Advisory Committee members do?

Being a member of the Lifespan Institute Teacher Advisory Committee involves meeting in a group with Lifespan Institute researchers and staff four times a year to review relevant projects and provide feedback. Teacher Advisory Committee meetings will happen online via video chat until COVID-19 restrictions are lifted and we are able to meet safely in person. Timing and dates of future Teacher Advisory Committee meetings are TBD.

Who can apply to the Lifespan Institute Teacher Advisory Committee?

The Lifespan Institute Teacher Advisory Committee includes members who:

  • Are current full-time elementary or secondary school teachers, administrators, or school board employees
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in issues surrounding teachers, students, children/youth, parents/guardians and families
  • Enjoy working collaboratively in groups and listening to others’ ideas
  • Are willing to commit time to the activities of Teacher Advisory Committee, including meeting online a minimum of 3 to 5 times a year and responding via email
  • Are willing to serve a 1-year term on the Teacher Advisory Committee
  • Have submitted a completed Teacher Advisory Committee application package
