What is this study about?
- This study explores how master’s students experience their relationships with their academic supervisors and how these relationships may relate to their psychological well-being, including stress, anxiety, and depression. We are interested in understanding how different aspects of supervision, such as support, communication, feedback, and structure, relate to students’ experiences. This research is important because it may help improve our understanding of master’s students’ well-being.
Who can participate?
- Current Brock University master’s students who have an assigned academic research supervisor and have worked with their current supervisor for at least 6 months if full-time or 12 months if part-time can participate.
What is involved in participating?
- Participation involves completing a confidential 15–20-minute online survey about your supervisory relationship and psychological well-being. At the end of the survey, you may also volunteer to be considered for an optional 30-minute virtual follow-up interview through Microsoft Teams. Volunteering for an interview does not guarantee selection.
What do individuals get for participating?
- Survey participants may choose to enter a draw for one of five $20 electronic gift cards. Participants selected for the follow-up interview will receive a $10 electronic gift card for their time.
