Have you ever wondered how young people respond to failure and success?

What is this study about?

  • Our goal is to understand how the need to be perfect may impact how young people respond to failure and success, both mentally and physically. A more comprehensive understanding of how perfectionism influences responses to success and failure can guide the development of targeted interventions that support young people’s psychological development.

Who can participate?

  • We are looking for young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 who are fluent in English. Eligible participants must be willing to come to Brock University to participate in the session (St. Catharine’s campus).

What is involved in participating?

  • The study will involve the completion of a two-hour, in-person session, during which you will complete pre- and post-testing surveys, along with a computer-based task. In the surveys, there will be questions about perfectionism, mental health, personality, your well-being, as well as general questions about yourselves such as your gender, age, and race. Throughout the computer-based task we will measure your heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory volume, and skin conductance (i.e., sweat).

What do individuals get for participating?

  • Participants will receive a $40 CAD electronic Amazon gift card.

If you are interested in participating in this study, please fill out the form below! This will notify the lab of your inquiry, and they will reach out to schedule you at their earliest convenience.
