Thank you for your interest in the Brock Lifespan Centre Youth Engagement Committee, or as we call it the B-YEC. This webpage has everything that you will need to apply for the committee.
If you have any questions throughout this process, please feel free to contact Carly Magnacca at email@example.com.
What is the B-YEC?
Brock University’s Lifespan Centre has a Youth Committee that helps to advise on youth-focused research happening at our research centre (https://brocku.ca/lifespan-development-research/). The B-YEC is made up of Niagara Region youth, aged 14 to 24, who assist the Lifespan Centre team in developing research ideas, keep the team informed about important matters affecting the health and happiness of youth in the Niagara Region, and provide a youth voice at various events. We are currently looking to add new members to the B-YEC.
B-YEC members will get an opportunity to be a part of exciting research on youth, gain valuable volunteer and professional leadership experience for a resume, and receive opportunities for other incentives.
B-YEC members will need to come to Brock a few times a year to meet with the rest of the committee and talk about research. These meetings will likely last from 6 to 8 p.m. and will be held on a week night. We also will send emails throughout the year to check-in, ask questions and talk about next steps.
Who can apply for the B-YEC?
The B-YEC is looking for youth members who:
- Are between the ages of 14 and 24
- Are residents of the Niagara Region
- Demonstrate a strong interest in issues surrounding youth well-being
