We understand that your journey is unique, and that it can be hard to build up the courage to seek help or access support. We’re here to provide support tailored to your needs.

  • coping with racial trauma or historical injustices? 
  • struggling to connect and build community on campus?  
  • feeling isolated or homesick? 
  • dealing with academic or financial stress?  

No matter what you’re facing, we see you, we hear you and are here for you. The Human Rights & Equity Office and the Student Wellness & Accessibility Centre have teamed up to provide dedicated counselling for Black, Racialized, and Students of Colour at Brock University. 

You can choose to meet with us in person, via Microsoft Teams, or over the phone—just select your preference when booking your appointment.

Tassia is a Registered Counsellor/Therapist with a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. As a Black therapist, she is dedicated to supporting Black and BIPOC students in navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, and grief, while addressing the unique impacts of racism, cultural identity, and intergenerational trauma. Tassia recognizes the systemic challenges and lived experiences of Black and BIPOC students and is deeply committed to providing culturally responsive care. She creates a safe, affirming, and non-judgmental space for students to process their feelings, build resilience, and embrace their identities. Having personally experienced therapy, Tassia understands how hard it can be to open up and strives to make every session one where students feel truly seen, heard, and supported in their healing journey.

Dawn Kakiroko

Dawn Kakiroko is one of 4 Wellness Navigators, that focuses on fostering inclusivity and improving student well-being by providing compassionate,  non-judgemental, holistic, culturally responsive one-on-one personalised support to help students overcome barriers and connect them with resources they need to thrive. While Dawn does not provide counselling services, she is an excellent first point of contact for racialized students. She can help you explore your wellness needs, decide if connecting with a counsellor is the right next step, and identify other supports that may enhance your well-being. Students can book one-on-one appointments with her and will also have the opportunity to attend various wellness events throughout the year.
