Carmela Patrias

Carmela Patrias is a social historian with a special interest in Canadian immigration, labour and women's history.

Her publications include Jobs and Justice: Fighting Discrimination in Wartime Canada, 1939-1945 (University of Toronto Press, 2012); Union Power: Solidarity and Struggle in Niagara (AU Press, 2012), co-authored with Larry Savage; Discounted Labour: Women Workers in Canada, 1870-1939 (University of Toronto Press, 2006), co-authored with Ruth Frager; Patriots and Proletarians: Politicizing Hungarian Immigrants in Interwar Canada (McGill-Queen's University Press, 1994); as well as a number of articles on immigrant workers and the history of human rights in Canada.
