The Custodial Services department along with the Waste Reduction Group will be conducting the 2024 Annual Waste Audit for Brock University over a two-week timeframe from September 23 to October 4, 2024.

The purpose of this government mandated waste audit is to identify, quantify and analyze the composition of the waste streams and to ensure compliance with the requirements outlined under Ontario Regulation 102/94, determine the annual waste diversion rate for Brock University resulting from existing waste reduction, reuse and recycling programs, identify any additional opportunities for waste reduction and diversion, identify potential cost savings associated with the disposal of solid waste materials, etc.

During the two weeks, all waste will be collected by selected buildings over a 24-hour timeframe and audited the following day by the auditors from the Waste Reduction Group. The waste collection will be placed in movable carts outside of the regular waste compactors and bins.
