Computer Labs and Printing

Overview

ITS maintains computers labs which provide students with access to software and resources required for academic pursuits. Commonly used software installed on the computers includes Microsoft Office, Maple, SAS, and SPSS. Printing is also available in certain labs.

Students, faculty, and staff are able to access lab computers using their CampusID.

Guests to the University requiring access to a lab computer can request a Temporary Guest Account at our Help Desk locations during open hours. Hours and locations are available on our Contact Us page.

ITS Computer Labs

The computer labs are shared among many people and as a result IT Services has developed the following rules to foster cooperation and to provide an environment for learning and academic achievements:

  • Lab computers are intended to be used in pursuit of academic objectives.
  • Using any equipment in the computer lab to send, view or print messages and/or graphics that are sexually explicit, of a harassing. nature, or in contravention of any University policy is prohibited.
  • Eating and drinking are prohibited in the computer labs.
  • Installing software/applications/programs is prohibited.
  • Computer hardware components cannot be used with any lab equipment or in any labs without permission.
  • No vandalism; do not destroy or deface any part of a computers and monitors.
  • No unauthorized copying of software or other copyrighted materials.
  • Be considerate and preserve a quiet environment.
  • Be patient and considerate of other computer users and Lab Advisors.
  • When planning your projects, allow extra time for crowded facilities and busy printers.
  • It is required that each user read and be aware of the Guide to Academic Computer Behaviour available in the current University Undergraduate Calendar.
