2026 Social History of Renaissance Florence (MARS/HIST/ITAL 3F52)

Study the Italian Renaissance in its hometown.  We will explore the culture and history of Florence by walking its streets and taking in its sights, sounds, and yes, smells.  Highlights of this course (subject to change):

  • Course taught by Dr. Colin Rose, Associate Professor, Department of History
  • Course homed to the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies and cross-listed with the Department of History, and also with Italian Studies
  • Study travel in Florence, May 17 to 27, 2026 and gain a full MARS/HIST/ITAL credit
  • Intensive pre-travel study on Brock campus in early May
  • 10 days shared accommodation at Casa per Ferie Regina del Santo Rosario, Florence
  • Guided walking tours
  • Museum outings
  • Visits to historic archives
  • Field trips to Siena and Bologna.
