Annual Virgulti Lecture

Ernesto Virgulti retired from the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures as Associate Professor of Italian, where he taught courses in Italian language, literature, cinema and pedagogy. He helped create the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies where he held the
position of Director for many years. His publications cover medieval Italian literature (especially Boccaccio’s Decameron), literary theory (narratology, semiotics), and cinema (Bertolucci and Amelio). He has also published a critical edition of Luigi Pirandello’s Cosí è (se vi pare).

In recognition of Ernesto Virgulti’s dedication to his profession, his colleagues in the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies have created this annual lecture in his name, with generous support from the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures and the Faculty of Humanities.
