The International Centre project is a 46,000 sq. ft. 3 storey building that will be located immediately east of 573 Glenridge Avenue and west of Quarryview Residence. The building will be clad in brick, architectural stone, glass and metal and will become an important element of the East Campus.
Scheduled for completion early in 2010, this building will become the new home for Brock International, International Services, IELP / ESL, International Market Development and Classics. The ground floor will contain 12 seminar rooms, food service space, an International Student’s lounge, a general lounge area and public washrooms. The second floor will contain offices for Brock International, International Services, International Market Development and IELP / ESL, meeting rooms, a staff lounge and washrooms. The third floor will contain offices for Classics, an Archeology Workroom, Cypriot Museum, lounges for faculty, staff and students and washrooms.
Consideration has been given to the design with regard to a Phase II expansion. Thoughtful site planning with the addition of the second phase will result in a design that incorporates a new courtyard and reconfigured parking lot located between the new and existing buildings.
This project is an example of environmentally responsible architecture and has been designed in accordance with the LEED Canada-NC 1.0 Rating System which recognizes leading edge buildings that incorporate design, construction and operational practices that combine healthy, high-quality and high-performance advantages with reduced environmental impacts. It is anticipated that this building will become Brock University’s second LEED certified project when complete. For more information on LEED visit the Canadian Green Building Council.
