Learning to read is a critical academic skill taught in the early primary grades, yet some students experience significant challenges learning how to read from classroom instruction alone. Research suggests providing additional instruction is most effective in early years of reading instruction.
This webinar discussed some of the key advances in:
- Early assessment and interventions for reading disability — what parents and educators should know;
- Understanding genetics, genetic testing, and risk for reading disability — what genetic tests tell us, limitations of genetic testing, and how these tests may assist with early detection or intervention;
- Building motivation in children experiencing reading challenges — fostering positive self-concept, interest, and a love of reading to support learning efforts
Please note that this webinar does not recommend any specific resource and/or treatment options, nor is it intended to provide individual advice. Individuals should consult with their healthcare team/treatment provider for all healthcare recommendations and decisions.
