Have you ever wondered how mind-wandering affects your perception of the world around you?

What is the study about?

  • The purpose of this research project is to gain a better understanding of how attention fluctuates over time and affects perception of everyday objects.

Who can participate in this study?

  • Participants must be between 65-80 years old, fluent in English, have sufficient motor function for use of a keyboard/mouse, normal or corrected-to-normal vision, and have no history of memory impairment (e.g. dementia, Alzheimer’s).

What is involved?

  • In this study, you will complete a series of computerized tasks measuring attention and object perception. You will also be asked to complete questionnaires and report your average screen time. Your performance will be recorded and stored in electronic files on a protected lab computer that can only be accessed by authorized lab members. Although no individual feedback will be provided, we can provide you with a general summary of the results once the study is completed.
