The tentative collective agreement reached between Brock University and the Brock University Faculty Association (BUFA) on July 5 has now been ratified by both parties.

Brock’s Board of Trustees ratified the agreement on Friday, July 14, and the BUFA membership voted to accept it on Monday, July 17.

The agreement includes provisions for collegial governance rights, an increase in the overall faculty and professional librarian complement, increases to compensation that are consistent with sector trends, an expansion of mental health benefits, and the conversion of qualified existing members into newly created teaching-intensive appointments that will grow teaching capacity, enabling Brock to continue to meet the needs of students. These changes will help Brock continue to advance its expertise in teaching, learning and scholarship.

“The Negotiating Team is grateful for the support and solidarity of BUFA members. The negotiated Agreement addresses the key priorities put forward by our members. We trust that the gains made in this round of bargaining will enable BUFA members to continue to do the good work they were hired to do,” said BUFA President and Professor of Sociology Michelle Webber.

The agreement is in effect from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026.
