Announcing the Advisory Committee on the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences

Following the open call released on August 30, the University has formed an advisory committee under the Policy on the Appointment of Academic Administrators to advise on the appointment of a Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences. Professor Ingrid Makus has served in this role since July 1, 2018. Professor Makus is eligible for re-appointment for a second five-year term. The committee will include:

  • Rosemary Condillac, Department of Applied Disability Studies
  • Trent Newmeyer, Department of Sociology
  • Julia Baird, Environmental Sustainability Research Centre
  • Danuta de Grosbois, Department of Geography and Tourism Studies
  • Diane Dupont, Department of Economics
  • Gordon Hodson, Department of Psychology
  • Rexella Dwomoh, graduate student representative
  • Sara Younes, undergraduate student representative
  • Jennifer Guarasci, Associate Vice-President, Human Resources (non-voting ex officio resource to the committee)
  • Janice Peacock, Manager, Academic Operations, Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic (non-voting ex officio resource to the committee)
  • Nicholas Dion, Executive Director and Senior Advisor, Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic (non-voting ex officio resource to the committee)
  • Lynn Wells, Provost and Vice-President, Academic (committee chair)

The membership of the committee has also been circulated by email from the Provost’s Office to faculty members (via their Deans) and to BUSU and the GSA.
