I am pleased to announce that Professor Carol Merriam has been re-appointed Dean of the Faculty of Humanities for a five-year term beginning July 1. Professor Merriam began her first term as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities on July 1, 2016.

Appointed to the Department of Classics, she specializes in Latin language and literature, with a research focus on Augustan poetry. Having completed her BA and MA at Queen’s University and her PhD from The Ohio State University, Professor Merriam joined Brock in 1994 as a part-time instructor.

An experienced administrator, Professor Merriam has also served as Chair of the Department of Classics and as Associate Dean in the Faculty of Humanities. She is also a past President of the Brock University Faculty Association.

Professor Merriam’s re-appointment was conducted in accordance with section 4 of the Faculty Handbook. As such, I would like to thank those who took the time to engage with the consultation process, including the Chairs and Directors in the Faculty of Humanities, members of the Senior Administrative Council, and Senators.

Please join me in congratulating Professor Merriam on her re-appointment.
