Global Affairs Canada, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, has opened applications for the 2026-2027 Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program (CCSEP).
This prestigious bilateral scholarship offers Canadian students, faculty, researchers, and mid-career professionals the opportunity to pursue:
- Post-secondary studies
- Research projects
- Short-term professional development
- Chinese language training at leading institutions across China
Program Highlights
- Undergraduate students: Eligible for stays of 4 to 12 months
- Graduate Students: Eligible for stays of up to 24 months, with the option to complete a graduate degree
- Faculty, Researchers, and Professionals: Minimum stay reduced to 1 month (maximum 12 months), offering greater flexibility for short-term engagements
- Fields of Study: Includes Chinese language, literature, history, international relations, business, law, public health, environmental studies, and more
- Financial Support: Covers travel, tuition fees, monthly stipend, accommodation, and medical insurance
General Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Canadian citizen
- Strong academic or professional record
- Demonstrated interest in studies or research in China Studies
- Available to study or research in China in the 2026-2027 year
- Language proficiency requirements apply (HSK Level 3 or 4 if studying in Chinese)

Application Process
Candidates must submit a two-step process.
- Submit your application via the My EduCanada portal by January 12, 2026.
- Complete your application on the China Scholarship Council (CSC) portal by March 1, 2026.
